WHAT PAPER WORK DO I NEED TO JOIN A SYNDICATE?

To join one of our syndicates, you’ll need to fill in 3 forms-a Syndicate Deed, a signed Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Financial Services Guide (FSG) all of which will be emailed to you. You will also need to provide a copy of your driving license for proof of address (ASIC) requirements.

HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY SHARE?

You can pay for your share by direct bank transfer as advised in the PDS.

HOW DO I PAY MY FEES?

All syndicate fees are invoiced and payable by direct debit from a bank account as directed on the invoice.

IS THERE AN OPTION TO PAY MY FEES IN ADVANCE?

Yes of course. If you would like to get your bills out of the way at once and in advance, we’re more than happy to take a six-monthly, annual or 3 year payment. Your current account balance will be displayed monthly on your summary.

CAN I BUY MORE THAN 1 SHARE IN ONE HORSE?

All shares are as per the PDS with the facility to add to your holdings if there are shares available. We encourage smaller % in more horses. You may buy multiple shares in as many of our horses as you like. Most owners do like to have a share in more than one horse-the major benefit being that while one horse is in the paddock, the other could be out at the track earning you prizemoney!

DO I GET FREE ENTRY TO THE RACES?

Absolutely! As a syndicate member you’re entitled to free entry for yourself and one guest at most racetracks (provided you are the named owner with 5% or more in the individual horse. However Equicom will endeavour to accommodate all owners at whichever track we are visiting.

WHO DECIDES WHICH JOCKEYS RIDE OUR HORSE?

The trainer and the Syndicate Manager acting together in their capacity as industry professionals make all regular day to day decisions involving the progress of your horse.

CAN I SPEAK TO THE TRAINER PRIVATELY?

We prefer that all communications go through Equicom. One of his primary functions is to relieve the work load of the trainer allowing them the time to focus on the horse. However we envisage that you will be so well informed that there will be little reason to escalate any questions. The stable will always answer any questions on race day or prior if you so desire.

WHEN WILL MY HORSE RACE?

This will be determined by the trainer only as they are the professionals and will know the horse better than anyone.

WILL MY HORSE BE INSURED?

All of our horses are covered by insurance for the advertised time. After that, it’s usually up to the individual syndicate member to decide whether or not they wish to insure their share. These options will be made available well in advance of the expiry date.

WHAT IS COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Mortality via accidental death or vets recommendation and theft.

WHEN IS PRIZE MONEY PAID OUT?

Prize money is credited to your account, and will show as a credit on your monthly account summary.

HOW WILL I GET INFORMATION ON MY HORSE?

The communication service we provide is excellent. When your horse is in training you will receive several updates leading up to race day from Equicom and the trainer himself. You will never be kept in the dark and the information will be factual and informative. Whilst not in training you will still receive weekly updates, as well as general stable information that will assist you to understand the workings of the stable.

WHAT COLOURS WILL THE HORSE RACE IN?

All 100%  syndicate owned horses will wear the Equicom colours.

CAN I MEET OTHER SYNDICATE MEMBERS?

This is what it’s all about! Having fun and getting to know like-minded individuals. We’ll go out of our way to introduce you to other members of your syndicate at trial and race days, and also at various social/business functions we hold from time to time.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WANT TO SELL MY SHARE?

You can place your syndicate share on the market at any time, but of course, it can only be sold if there’s a buyer. Whilst we will always try to match up your share with a potential buyer, we are under no obligation to do so. An investment in a racehorse should be viewed as a long term investment.

WHO NAMES THE HORSE?

All members of a new syndicate are invited and encouraged to send in suggestion. From these suggestions a short list will be compiled and the winning entry will be selected usually by the owners after an anonymous vote.

WHAT DO I GET TO SHOW THAT I OWN A SHARE IN A HORSE?

If you’ve returned your paperwork electronically (via fax or email), you’ll have the original paperwork for your records. If you post your paperwork to us, please take a copy for your records.

Secondly you will be issued with a certificate from Equicom which we expect to be framed and put next to your most valued family members.

WILL I KNOW WHO ELSE HAS SHARES IN MY HORSE?

Our policy is not to distribute other members contact details, however in addition to meeting your fellow owners at the races, we also hold social events which are a great way to meet the other people involved in your horse.

IS THERE AN OPTION TO PAY?

At this stage all invoices will be charged monthly to the exact costs incurred.

HOW MUCH PRIZE MONEY?

5% win bonus Equicom Syndications, 10% Trainer, 5% Jockey and 1.5% Stable hand Fund. 78.5% of total split by % holding of syndicate owners.
