MEET OUR TEAM

IMG_7441.jpg
Philip "Bish" - Founder

For the most part of my life I have been involved with horses. Starting from 5yrs old at the village stables of Mrs Steele, riding Badger a placid grey pony or sitting at my nans kitchen table, poking a pen into the newspaper with my eyes closed (still a good method) selecting bets for the day.

As I got older I used to ride in the float of a local trainer, usually to the local point to points (second tier English country, jumps racing) with friends. Great memories!

I personally ended up in Australia after a season of Rugby in New Zealand and never looked back. It took me several years to be able to afford a share in horse but with the assistance of Alan Denham selected an early Sire called Snitzel and had the privilege of naming him after my oldest son Lucas (Big Boppa Lucas) who gave us success at provincial tracks before injury ended his career prematurely (oh what could have been)? Then with various ownerships with other trainers around Australia.

This however was the time my vision really took shape or in part. As a customer service professional and account manager, I had identified that the race horse industry had a lot to learn about creating a customer experience. Giving back to the owners what they deserve in generating a journey, not just an invoice at the end of the month.

After a lifetime in the making and 10 years of planning it was time to take the plunge and back myself. I want to make a difference and give clients the opportunity to spend quality time with family, friends whilst making new mates along the way. Honesty and integrity are the foundation of Equicom and with the support of my wife Karen and 3 children Elise, Lucas, James and the team at Equicom Syndications we will look forward to great times ahead, win or lose. Hopefully more winning though

TEAM MOORE
Gary Moore

As the son of  legendary Australian jockey, George Moore, Gary had the ultimate mentor to develop the skills required to take him to the top both as a jockey and later as a trainer. Gary learnt from his father and from the gifted horsemen he was associated with, first in his native Australia, and then on the world stage in places such as France, England and Hong Kong. Gary was successful against the best Lester Piggott, Yves Saint Martin to name but a few.

Consider Gary’s achievements in the saddle -

  • He was Champion Jockey in France and is the only living Australian jockey to have won the Prix de l’Arc De Triomphe winning on Gold River in 1981 (see video below).

  • He was Champion Jockey in Hong Kong 7 times

  • He won the Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) on Bering, the One Thousand Guineas on Ravinella and the Prix Diane (French Oaks) on Esclaine.

  • He rode Pre Catalan to victory in the 1985 Silver Slipper on a rare visit to Australia and also rode alongside his father in the 1968 Melbourne Cup.

And when it came time to swap the saddle and whip for the stopwatch, Gary seamlessly slipped into the role of Champion trainer.

  • Champion Trainer in Macau 8 times

  • Gr.1 winning trainer in Australia

So you can see, as a trainer Gary brings over 50 years experience to the table to give your horse the best opportunity to succeed.
